how long a wait, etc?
hello all,
ive got a bunch of questions that i hope you can help with.
i was wondering how long a wait one would be painfully subjected to when ordering a build-to-order 'book? im considering an ibook or even a powerbook if the purse strings loosen a bit.
also, is it possible to request a 5400rpm drive as a BTO option? the specs posted on the apple website list 4200rpm drives. is there a significant speed increase with a 5400 over a 4200. if yes, id take a 5400 if i could have it.
if i cant have it my way and immediately switch the factory drive with an aftermarket does it void my 'books warranty? does the warranty extend to the removed factory drive even if its in an external enclosure? id like to get max benefit out of the warranty as you can see.
thanks in advance

actually i bought my powerbook at apple store online build to order. apple will try to deliver the item less than 10days it's der policy. you can cancel the order after 10days f havnt recv ur order. about hdd's speed rpm im not that observnt but no diffrnce at all f ders differnce maybe just a fraction im not worried about hdd's rpm anyway i think RAM and CPU really does matter.

I waited for my BTO iBook for a month to arrive. It was worth the wait.

Hi Riferai welcome to Philmug. It really depends. If you order it directly from the apple store and have it shipped to a US address then it may take less time than to have it ordered via a reseller here. But if you plan to get it from the apple store you must hurry because you need to order by Dec. 15 to get it to your US address in time for Christmas (given you have one).
I understand that BTO is also an option for local apple resellers but it will surely take much longer. Take it from me. I waited for a regular one (not even BTO) and it took more than a month, in fact it has not arrived yet and I ended up buying something else.
