I had the same problemo ( one dead, annoying, white pixel right smack in the center ) after only 4 weeks of enjoying my new powerbook. At first, I thought it was some bread crumb stuck on my screen. grin* But after constantly wiping and cleaning off the thumb prints on my screen, the dead pixel vanished. Sounds weird huh?
Yup, i guess the massaging really works! Try it guys.

Actually not much pressure JM. Just gentle circular strokes or up and down strokes. Not sure how long but I try to clean my pb at least twice a week. I just noticed it this morning (after reading this post on dead pixels) that its gone.
Try it for a couple of weeks and lets see if it works for you. Oh btw, I did use iKlear solution to clean my pb. Don't know if that had anything to do with restoring my dead pixel to life.
    Good luck!

I got my PB from Megamall's PowerMAC and I complained about the one dead pixel. They told me that I could still return it and they'll give me a new one. I would've taken up the offer but I already have my Crystal Film and Pawasapo stuff installed.
My ~3 month old iBook has one dead/stuck pixel that I discovered just now. I hope I get the same response as yours when I call PowerMAC tomorrow. It doesn't irritate me that much but if I can get a replacement, why not?

    anyway to fix this?
What camera do you use? I think it is possible to have a service center re-map the sensor to remove the dead pixel...I just heard this somewhere, I have no first hand experience on it though....

Note that some Olympus cameras have a pixel mapping option buried somewhere in the menus that allows the user to re-map the sensor.

    I guess I ain't that lucky.

The lady at PowerMAC SM Megamall told me that Apple considers dead pixels < 5 as tolerable and that it can't be taken in for warranty. However, she assured me that the initial no. of dead pixels that appeared will be the last and that they aren't the same as white spots seen in 15" PBs that progressively accumulate overtime.

    Oh well...

I've been told that you can try massaging the screen gently (make sure you wash your hands first). It has been said to solve the problem sometimes. Otherwise you're oyt of luck I'm afriad. The lady at Powermac is right, in fact it is international standard that dictates that 5 dead pixel policy.
