    Default COM PORT

How do you do a COM connection since iBook G4 12" doesn't have any COM Ports? Is there a USB to COM converter?

Yes, there are dongles that converts USB to serial -- I remember seeing one during the Ynzal sale.

I got pissed of since when I went to the Apple Center in Central and the Apple Reseller that I bought my iBook G4 they both told me that there's no such cable and I cannot use the serial/COM Port. I called Apple Technical Support in the US to check if my iBook cannot connect to a serial/COM port (example: Cisco, Quintum, Lucent, etc) and according to the tech support Apple does not have that kind of cables. I'm wondering on how come when I searched the Apple Website I found that there were 3 companies that makes the USB to COM cables.

BTW how do you configure this in MAC (Baud Rate, etc).?

longbeard, unfortunately, I have not tried it yet. I will ask one of my staff who uses the same setup (but on a thinkpad) in configuring our switches and routers.

I had no problem in using my COMPAQ PRESARIO and IBM ThinkPAD 660X. It will be a big disappointment if MAC does not support console connections.

Maybe you just need something like HyperTerm for the Mac.

It there a program like HyperTerm in MAC? I have the USB to Serial (otherwise known as DB9) cable but I think it needs a driver before it will work.

Has you staff configured the switches/routers with a MAC?
