isight is the webcam by apple. its really nice but its quite pricey.
Hello Lei,
Which one are you really looking for? A webcam is for video confrencing, a digicam is for taking still pics. If a webcam is what you're after, Apple's iSight is the best. You can get it at your nearest Apple reseller. There are cheaper alternatives though.
If a digital still cam is what you want, Canon offers a lot of choices. Perhaps a simple point and shoot will be enough for your needs. Also go to DPreviews.com for other choices and reviews. People seem to like Sony, Casio, and Olympus too.

Yeah,
Get a camcorder with a FireWire port. Most Digi 8s' now or all the MiniDV camcorders. It also takes still shots good for posting on the web and for email, and it works best for videoconferencing on iChatAV, that is if your BF also has a Mac and an iSight or the right camcorder.
I wonder if this is what you need ???
Oh well, Christmas Greetings anyway

Thanks ng marami po.... think that is what i need... have any idea how much is it?![]()
entry level for Digi 8 camcorders are in the 20 or low 20 grand, for the miniDV, JVC seems to be the lowest in the mid 20's. The main difference is that the miniDV takes better (almost broadcast quality) video than the Digi 8. But for the average person, it is more than enough.
Have fun. BTW, be sure to take out the tape from the transport or else after 5 minutes of iChatAV videoconference, the camcorder automatically shuts off.

i saw it, is it that big cam corder?i was actually looking for something small and handy...
entry level camcorders :
Digi 8 are the usual size, Big !!
miniDV have palm corders (small), and the usual camcorder size up to the big prosumer types.

Hi lei,
My sweetie is in the US exactly 12 hrs behind (ok, 13 hrs for daylight savings time) and we're usually videoconferencing on the iSight. We're both using PowerBooks, run DSL, have an iSight each and are plugged into our stereo systems for audio output or we may be on headphones. Video and audio quality depends on your DSL bandwidth, usually PLDT's stream drops from time to time. Adequate 2-3 pt light is a must also.
Mr. sweetie's taken me on a tour of his house toting the PB with iSight and transmitting via Airport Express, feels like that steadycam rig on that "scary places" tv show. Have also conferenced with him in SBC GB 3 my end, had noise cancelling headphones and a Griffin Technology Sightlight on my iSight. The only thing missing was a boom mic, preferably noise cancelling or better yet a future BT headphone/mic noise cancelling doohicky. Or unless the nice folk at Jawbone port the headset to Mac use also.
Am asking Apple SG which BT headset and model (Jabra? Motorola? SE?) works best with iChat/iSight, of course gotta pair via iSync first.
iSights work great, they are small and very portable. They can be used to archive your loot collection via the super cool Delicious Library and for more fun playing on Toysight.
