Default Best time to buy ibook for the wife

My wife is now constantly complaining that she is the only one not surfing wirelessly with a mac while my daughter and I laze and relax, surfing and playing around with our respective macs wirelessly. She is still using a desktop pc. I am thinking of buying her the ibook g4 for Christmas but was wondering if I should wait for OS X Tiger to come out and buy her mac with Tiger installed in a few months or if I should just give her my 12' pbook g4 and wait for a pbook g5. I can always buy her something else for Christmas. Does anyone have any ideas as to when a pbook g5 might be coming out? or when ibook or pbook with Tiger might come out....or should I just go ahead and buy her the ibook now?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well.... How bad does your wife need to surf wirelessly? My mom has been telling my dad the same thing. She's the only one not able to surf from the couch or table. My dad, brother and I surf wirelessly although I'm the only one who uses a mac. Both my dad and brother are stuck with Windoze because of work. Honestly my mom doesn't need it that much. It's a nice to have for her... So what my dad is doing is giving her his old laptop since he just got one a few weeks ago. He just needs to transfer his old files.

I think if your wife just uses the computer to surf and email, she can benefit from inheriting your pb and just get her something she really likes for christmas. The thing is... I don't think a G5 powerbook is coming anytime soon. From what I've read in some articles a more likely powerbook would be a dual core g4. In anycase it might be coming early next year. At least we can hope.

I agree, if you wait for the new pb "g5" it will probably be on the market after a month or two after its announced at the MWSF 2005. re: Tiger OS, you can always get the installer when it comes out by next year, the issue only here is that you and your daughter can surf wireless while she's stuck on the PC... Get her something else na lang for xmas

IF it's announced at MWSF 2005.

I suppose you really meant retail version of Tiger, not the Greenhills "installer"
