    Default Apple Service Center

How much does it cost to bring an iBook to the Apple Service Center if the warranty has expired?

    Longbeard,

I think they'll give you a quote once they find out what the problem is.
Since the warranty has elapsed, the cost of the repairs, if needed, shall be determined by the parts that need to be replaced and/or labor costs.

I mean like with my previous laptop (COMPAQ PRESARIO) whenever I visit the HP Service Center they charge HKD$700 (inspection fee since the warranty has expired already). How much is the initial non-refundable charge with Apples' Service Center?

Hmm does anyone know where to bring a Compaq laptop for service in Manila?
And is it also the same here? One has to pay for inspection?

    RC,

The Compaq service center can be found along Ayala Ave. Its being serviced by HP. I think its in Robinsons summit. There's an entrance along Ayala Ave.

As I remember one of my friends bought his COMPAQ to the HP Service Center (South Area) and they charged him an inspection fee of P4,000 or P5,000.. Its almost the same price here HKD$700. This is a non-refundable inspection fee. You can check the website of HP to get the exact location. But I think they charge differently since my friends laptop needed a change of motherboard and HP was charging him P50,000 for the replacement. My laptop is still with the HP Service Center and requires a motherboard replacement too but the cost is just around P25,000-P27,000. Hmm..

Hmm.. I might have my laptop sent to back to Manila just to have it checked since there's no inspection fee in Apple resellers. I checked earlier with Apple Center in Stanley St. in Central and they told me that as soon as the warranty has expired they charge an inspection fee of HKD$750 (not including the price for the additional parts and labor). Might as well change the machine by that time since its already obsolete.
