    hello mac lovers, another newbie here.

    my office gave me a 12" powerbook G4 last week. i'm surgically attached to it right now! i also have a 4th gen 20GB iPod. apple rocks!!!

    i'm planning to upgrade my processor from 867MHz to 1.33GHz, and my combo drive to a superdrive.

    you can't really upgrade the processor for a lappy... you have to buy a new unit to do that.

    Hey hedges,

    You cannot upgrade the processor of a 12-14 or 17" Powerbook !

    The only one's you can do that to are the G3 Black powerbooks, Wallstreet, Lombard and Pismo (speeds of 233 to 500 MHz).

    You can upgrade the RAM and the drives though !

    aaargh! so much for a processor upgrade. my RAM is 640MB currently. i think that's the max for this model.

    The maximum is 1.12GB if you use a 1GB PC2100 DDR SODIMM if it has 128MB built-in

    congratulations! just try to upgrade your powerbook's memory to boost its performance.. as for the optical drive, just get an external firewire dvd writer
