Default 12\"PoewrBook owners-please advice a would be buyer...

    hello,
my bestfriend's pc crashed for the nth time and she needs your help in deciding whether a 12"powerbook is great for her needs:
    -portability:sturdy and light
    -watches dvds
    -plays games esp. the Sims2
    -create pictures albums/slides/movies
    -connect powerbook to plasma tv
    -manage daily scheds and whatnots
-watch dvd while another window or application is open
    -internet addict
    -use yahoo messenger,yahoo mail
    -sharp image display:colors...etc
-listen to music, burn and rip
    -cd/dvd rw

we went to the mac studio at greenbelt 1 to browse around but the 12" powerbook is not on display. i told her that the only way for us to rid ourselves of the numerous headaches we've experienced due to pc crashes is to switch to mac.

any thoughts? is powerbook 12" the right thing for her?
please help...she would want to be the one to post this question but her pc's been on the repairshop for 2 weeks now. could you also list the specs for the 12"pwrbook that she needs?[anything that needs to be added-hardware or software]... if you experienced anything negative on your own 12"powerbook..kindly post it here too.

thank you so much.i am sure you will help my bestfriend in her decision.God bless you all.

Sounds like the 12" PowerBook would be perfect for her (or even a 12" iBook G4). The thing is, she'll have to wait until around May for The Sims 2 for the Mac to be released. Tell your friend to go for it!

hmmm...that's part of a constant debate between mac lovers. will there be a PB G5? is it even possible? i honestly don't know. some people say that it's gonna come out sometime this year. i say, just let steve jobs surprise us.

anyway, i have a 12" PB. i've had my baby since august 6, 2004. never, and i mean NEVER, did i ever regret buying one. i think it's perfect for my job. as a photographer, i travel around a lot. and it's nice to have a laptop that's small enough and light enough to bring with me wherever i go. if i need a bigger screen, i can just plug in a bigger monitor. or even a tv for that matter.

everything your bestfriend wants to do, i'm pretty much confident that the 12" PB can handle it.

gripes? it does get hot. so a coolpad is a must. hmmm...what can be another gripe? oh yeah! my friends now want to kill me and run away with my baby! hahahaha!!!

No one (except Apple) knows for sure. As I've said before, I wouldn't bet on it. My guesstimate? 1st Quarter of 2006 at the earliest.

Though the specs of the 12" Powerbook meet the minimum requirements to play the Sims 2. I do recommend that your friend upgrades to at least 512MB of RAM for better game play!
