WinXp on Mac. Contest Over! Somebody Won!
Just wanted to tell everybody that it seems the contest to boot Windows XP successfully on a intel based Mac has a winnder.
Check it out;

The details on how to do it is forthcoming.
Personally, I'd do it so I can play PC games again. Mac Games are sooo pricey and the titles are lame comapred to PC selection. Kotor SITH here I come!

I'm really quite surprised it took so long
saw the photos on Flickr two days ago. Anyways, this was inevitable and I have this nagging feeling we are all going to benefit greatly. 20% marketshare stateside is very now very much possible with the dual boot Macs.

Running Windows in Macs - great technical achievement. But running Mac OSX on a generic Intel PC... now that would be more really interesting!

Not really... since they've already done it last year. Windows on Mac Intel IS the interesting bit.

Me too!
What I was wishing though is if I can boot XP off the Iomega Minimax, but until the details come out on the instructions, I'm not putting my hopes up too much.
The discussions also state that since the ATI video card in the iMac does NOT have the same firmware as the PC hardware versions, the graphics mode in XP isn't optimized so don't expect 50fps when your running games.
The PowerMac guys can relate to this because you just don't buy a high-end video card for the PowerMac and stuff it and it will work, there's still some differences in the firmware in the graphics cards which makes the need for specific PC or Mac versions of the hardware.
