pls. I need help partitioning my mac HD... I need an Assistance. thanks.

i tried to partition my mac HD using boot camp assistant so i can install winXP. this is my 3rd time to partition it and the first two is successful and i was able to install and my winXP, but this last time i erased and restored my HD to one volume, i tried to partition in again, but it failed, and stated, "verification failed, this disk could not be partitioned. Use Disk Utility to repair this disk", so i went and open the Disk Utility, but the problem is the repair disk button is seem to be locked. how can i repair the mac HD/hard disc w/out erasing the disk so that i can partition it and install my winXP. thanks!!!
