According to this CNet Article, the latest version of iPodLinux can make the older iPods (3G and below) to play video -- though there will be no sound with it.

The above link also features a how-to on converting videos that will be playable on the older iPods.

The ability to record 96mhz audio with your iPod is incredible. I can go to the German Moreno show now and make awesome bootlegs.
