Internal IM Server Questions
I'm planning to implement an internal IM server inside my corporate network. This server will be placed inside the firewall and it will not be accessible to and from the internet.
Has anyone tried doing this? What IM app did you use?
I'm thinking of using Jive Messenger (a jabber-based IM server) in conjunction with Exodus (obviously a jabber client).
Will this setup work for a not-so-big organization with around 200 employees? Are there other options that I can work with?
Thanks!

Sounds good, I've tried that before, XMPP (Jabber) is mature and stable.
Alternatively, you can consider SIMPLE, which is the IM protocol of SIP. This standard is pretty new, but as a bonus, you will have VOIP capability within your network, if it's useful for you. I tried SER at http://www.iptel.org/ser, you will need the presence agent. The client I've tried is eyeBeam http://www.xten.com, works on windows and mac.

Thanks coffeelover. I have just finished setting up Jive Messenger on one of my old Win2K server and it seems to be working fine. The client I'm using is Exodus.
