Default Help: Home Networked Backup Solution

I regularly backup my iBook on my external HD using Super Duper. My wife, backs up on CDR/DVD-R.

Here's what I want to do. I want the two of us to be able to do automated wireless backups to a networked computer/storage device at regular intervals (e.g. nightly automatic backups at 4 AM).

    Here are my questions:

    1. What software would I need for the iBooks?
    2. What software do I need for the networked file server?
    3. Can I use my modded Xbox as a file server/file backup box?

Let's assume that the networked file server would be an old Imac G3 or a Pentium on Linux Mandrake or Windows 95. Dedicated networked backup drive solutions aren't really an option since I have neither the budget nor the urgent need. This is basically just a geek project to repurpose old hardware that I have access to.

Here's my existing home network setup:

My iBook G4 on Airport Extreme
My Wife's iBook G3 on Airport
My Modded Xbox with 200GB Hard Drive

Airport Extreme Base Station connected to Nokia ADSL Modem
    Airport Express

External 160GB WD Caviar in a Oxford Based Firewire Enclosure

    Any ideas, O Great Geekheads?

Maybe you can use Automator for this?

    Thanks Gomi.

A google search produced this which certainly looks worth exploring.

The article also mentions Deja Vu which seems to be quite good as well.

I've gotten Deja Vu to work.

My wife's iBook is now backing up wirelessly to an external HD connected to my iBook using Deja Vu. It's a little bit slow, but hey, it works!
