HELP with blinking screen
I was peacefully surfing the net using my iBook when it prompted me for updates. So i proceeded with the updates and when a text box asked if I wanted to do a restart for the updates to take effect, it lead me to a blue screen with a command prompt - looking text. I forgot what it said but i tried typing "halt" and the screen went: "CPU halted" and lead me back to tha same blue screen. I typed "logout" thinking that it might be a valid mac OS command but I ended up with a perpetual blinking text screen which said:
symbol not found: dyid_lazy_symbol_binding_entry_point
referenced from:/user/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib
expected in: /user/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib
I tried to do a reset, which to no avail... didn't change a single thing.
can somebody please tell me what to do??

Re: HELP with blinking screen
This means that a file or lib has been corrupted, or deleted and cannot be found, thus halting a system file from running.
Best thing to do is to do an Archive and Install, making sure to preserve user/network settings so that none of your files/settings will be gone.

Re: HELP with blinking screen
Sorry if this may sound a bit dumb-dumb.. but how will I do that? From the blinking screen, there's practically nothing I can do from there.. It just doesnt navigate away from it...

Re: HELP with blinking screen
Insert your OS X install CD, reboot and hold the 'C' key. This will enable you to boot to the CD and perform the archive and install.
The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.
