Apparently, AsantePrints and presumably EtherPrints do not work when connected to an N-way port on a Mac or Hub/Switch. N-way ports are 10/100 or 10/100/1000Mbps ethernet ports found in m odern hub/switches and every Mac from the Blue and white G3 onwards.
They will only work when connected to a 10-Base-T only port, such as on an older beige mac or 10-Base-T hub cascaded downwards from an N-way hub.
AsantePrints and EtherPrints are devices for connecting small networks (2-4 devices) of localtalk devices to ethernet networks, e.g. a non-ethernet Apple Laserwriter or HP deskwriter to an ethernet network of newer macs.
