    Default MacOS 7.0.1

Finally saw the ancestor of my current OS X-based iBook!

This is a screenshot using Mini vMac. Now, if I can only install some cool apps to this baby which, by the way, can be ran off a USB flashdrive.

I still have the original Aldus Pagemaker in floppy disks sitting around here somewhere. It will be nostalgic to see it running again.

@peter: making it run is pretty easy and straighforward. I just followed the instructions at the minivmac page of nothickmanuals.info.

System 7 (that what it was called before Mac OS 7.5.5) is actually relatively recent as far as the evolution of the OS is concerned. Much of what is in Classic (Mac OS 9.22) was originally in System 7.

System 6, now that's really the first generation of the Mac OS.

Basically, it's to System 0.9 what Mac OS 9.22 is to System 7. System 6 is the last evolution of the original Mac OS. Mac OS X is of course, the third major evolution of the OS>

i still have OSXII in my apps folder. sometimes, when i am feeling bored (like i am on a long flight, and some dude next to me is playing doom on this PC laptop), i fire up frogger, karateka, return to castle wolfenstein!!! i love the screech the eagle makes when it takes your little karateka!
