Default How to install OS 9 on Panther without re-format?

I'm trying to install OS 9.2.2 on Panther. I need classic to run some OS 9 only software. I tried installing OS 9 using my original restore cd, but it would refuse, something about not being able to update the system. I checked disk utility and I do have OS 9 drivers installed. Anyone?

heck, i usually just drag the system folder from a CD copy i have of a previous OS9 setup and then "bless" the system (for those who never heard of the term, it means dragging the system file out of the system folder and then back in, which supposedly resets some bits for one reason or other; just think of it as updating )

    Default Problem solved

Turns out that enabling the "clean install" option on my OS 9 software install CD doesn't erase my HD. It just installs OS 9 and leaves my Panther installation intact. Thanks anyway Butch!
