Tiger Issues: Virex 7.5.1 and Speed Tools
After installing Tiger, I encountered two rather bothersome quirks.
The first problem was that Tiger would freeze on both shutdown and restart.
After doing the usual (repair permissions, cleaning out user login items) and still not getting results, a bit of digging at Macfixit revealed an issue with Speedtools. I had to remove Speedtools as well as all the folders associated with it in Library/Startup items. My iBook now restarts and shuts down without a hiccup.
The next problem that I became aware of was that Menu Meters would consistently show CPU usage at 100%. I initially thought this was a problem with Menu Meters. I downloaded a new copy and when it still showed that problem, I opened up my activity monitor (which is what I should have done in the first place). Virex was using upwards of 85% of the processor!
Removing Virex solved the problem completely. Not having Virex is not an issue since there are still hardly any virii for OS X, as we all know aside from the fact that Virex is not compatible with Tiger.
Two problems solved!
Tiger is purring like a pussy cat for me now.

You can also try Virex 7.6 (which is what I use). It works well on my friend's PB running Tiger (I still have Panther).
