i have read in this site:
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/macosx_tiger.asp
and it states that:
Contrary to a popular misconception, Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" does not include Apple's vaunted iLife '05 applications--iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, iTunes, and Garage Band--nor does it include the iWork '05 productivity applications
As Dave_D pointed out, iLife '05 comes pre-loaded on all new Macs, not with any version of Mac OS X. I didn't realize it was a "popular" misconception.
The new stocks of iBooks/Powerbooks come with iLife'05 preinstalled (included in the Installer Disks). Will have to check what will happen after doing an up-to-date to Tiger.
@ Dave_D, PatrickGaerlan, elbertc, especially longbeard
thank you for clarifying things out.
i started this post because i'm about to go Mac and never going back (been a windows user for the longest time). and being a non-Mac user i got confused deciding when and what to purchase especially with the Tiger coming out.
@Dave_D
initially took your advice regarding getting the Powerbook now then just do an Up-to-date for the Tiger but after reading various posts and a review of the Tiger plus this post, i've decided just to wait and get the Powerbook with pre-installed Tiger.

Good for you! Actually, I would have also advised you to just go ahead and get a new Mac now then avail of the Tiger up-to-date program (of course, clarify with your reseller first if this is valid in the Philippines). In my experience, upgrading from a previous version of Mac OS X is painless. I didn't reformat/clean install when I upgraded from Jaguar (Mac OS X v10.2) to Panther (Mac OS X v10.3). There is an option to upgrade and keep all your settings intact. Something I would never do with Windows.
Jordan, that is actually a wise decision. But, as Patrick stated, it's also not a problem to go ahead and buy now then just avail of the up-to-date program. So now it all depends on how patient you are.
Personally speaking, I'm about to upgrade my near two year old PowerBook, but decided to wait for Tiger.
