Panic Time? 1st Trojan for OSX
Are our happy days over? MacMerc reports the "first ever" Trojan for all versions of OS X. Are there any victims of this yet? Is it finally time to buy an anti-virus for OS X?

That IS really BAD NEWS
(although no report of the actual virus yet).
Probably a marketing ploy of VIRUS BARRIER.
Better safe than sorry - Does VIREX have an update on this already? :?:

Check this out. Seems like it's still too early to tell if it's a real threat or just an exaggeration/marketing ploy on Intego's part. :-)

I wouldn't sweat this too much. If the press release or article originated from Norton instead of Intego, then I'd worry.

Even if the threat is significant (and everything I've read so far indicates otherwise), let's put this in perspective: that would be one OS X virus as opposed to over 71,000 Windows viruses.
Which OS is more secure? It's still a no-brainer to me.

Well, what the heck are you doing using MP3 files? Shouldn't we all be using AACs instead?:music:

Do you think Apple will be able to make a patch/update that'll neutralize the threat?

I've got Norton installed & figured: "Might as well put LiveUpdate into use." Turns out that Norton has come up with something to address the issue; so now my virus defs are up-to-date. It could be nothing, for even Symantec classifies the threat as "easily contained." Still it's beter to be safe than sorry.
For more info, here's a link to Symantec's security response regarding this so called "threat."
