Mac OS X: The Missing Manual (Panther Ed)

I need to get some gifts on Amazon so I am looking for extras to make the shipping cost worth it.

Read in some other forum about the book, "Mac OS X: The Missing Manual" and how it has become a must read for mac users. I did a quick search and found that at least two people consider this book to be one that touched their life (this thread).

I'm sure there are more out there who have read this book. Can I have your inputs? Is it really a must read for a newbie like me? Any other suggested alternatives.

very good book to learn about mac osx panther. but since tiger's coming out, might as well wait for the Missing Manual for Tiger.
