    Default Kernel Panic & Virex

Have any of you encountered any Kernel Panics after installing Virex? This is the last software I installed, so I'm more or less certain that its the cause. I've had three consecutive KPs and had to restart my Mac after installing this utility. The copy came free with the .Mac subscription.

read from macfixit couple of months back that version isn't that stable, so i uninstalled mine and used 7.2 since then.

Hey same here. I started getting problems with it after I installed the latest version of Virex. But I switched back to an older version and thought the problem was licked.

It might be something else also, I still experience some kernel panics now but I traced it to my ADSL modem which seems to cause a KP when I disconnect.

if i remember correctly, the problem was with virex 7.5. this happened during the last week of august. virex 7.5 had a mail deletion bug so apple quickly replaced virex 7.5 with virex 7.2 on the .mac site. i had also installed virex 7.5 then, but had to uninstall and replaced it with virex 7.2 (v1.1) when i found out about the bug. been using virex 7.2 (v1.1) since then.

i'm still wary about installing virex 7.5.1 though...

    Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I uninstalled my copy but I still had to restart my Mac two times today due to Kernel Panics. Had to boot using the Panther CD for Disk First Aid and to verify permissions.

So far so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I encountered my first KP yesterday. I had been running my virex before that. I haven't had any repeats since but had to restart my pb. I am also using 7.5.1 which is the latest version of virex. if i remember right, this is the one that corrected the previous one which had the problem. my plan is to observe and see what happens next. so far tonight, so good
