boot up with your os x CD and look for the change password option.

am not sure if it's R or C but it's like going through the install process all over again except that you don't install, you just change your password. this is actually the backdoor to someone else's mac, aside from your own.

Insert Mac OS X Install CD 1 (or DVD, in the case of Powerbook G4) in drive. Keep the "C" key pressed while restarting your Mac. Keep it pressed until you see the gray Apple logo on the screen. Now wait for the Installer to boot and the first Install screen to start up. Do not press Continue.

Instead, click on the File menu at the top of the screen, and select "Reset Password."

This procedure is documented by Apple.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

ok, i somehow managed to recover my password through the long process of trial and error. hehehe...

lesson is, don't change your password after waking up early in the morning...
