    Hi Margie!

    Welcome to PhilMUG!

If you're a .Mac subscriber, you can download Virex as one of its membership benefits.

Welcome, Margie! You only need to post your question once on the board in a forum ... everyone else will see it in the Latest Posts page. I took the liberty of merging the questions you posted in the OS X and the Newbie forums into just this one thread for housekeeping reasons.

Virus protection? Honestly ... don't worry about it. That's all I can say!

Norton is always a good solution.. its more so that you don't pass windows viruses along to windows users but 100% of all the windows viruses out there do not affect OSX

let's not be too hasty my bretheren. even though there are none to date. there has been a case where some security firm or the like was able to create one just to show it is possible.

I'm in IT Security by profession (albeit the non-mac kind). I believe that if there's a will, there's a way. If someone crafty enough comes along that is familiar with the innards of OSX, I'm sure you'll see one pop up and do some malicious work. It's only a matter of time.

Heck, if the Linux kind (of virii) is starting to show up, OSX may not be far behind. (Let us not forget what is in the inner core of OSX).

"The price of freedom (from virii and exploits) is eternal vigilance." :2cents:
