Default What\'s the best and easiest way to back up an ipod?

My wife and I share a 40GB 3rd generation iPod.

We're sending it in to the reseller we bought it from because the battery life has been so dismal. We'd be lucky to get more than an hour from it.

I would like to copy the contents of my iPod to my external hd and then transfer it back to the iPod after it comes back from service.

I've tried using Senuti but it only works if I transfer songs one album at a time.

Is there an easier way of backing up and then restoring the iPod?

    Would carbon copy cloner work?

    Thanks guys!

Have you tried Podworks? You can get it a version tracker. I've never tried moving all the contents of my iPod yet, but I've been able to move multiple files coming from different albums, so it should work well for you
