    Default Switching Public TV\'s off

The N3650 already has this function (with Psiloc Total Ir Remote), but I was only able to download the shareware version. But you have to be at two arms length close to the TV to enable it to work. Still, if you hate watching the current channel at provincial airports (mostly telenovelas), you can quickly surf to MTV with just a few clicks on your cellphone.

One time, I was in prank mode after a couple of beers in a karaoke bar, and minutes of torture from a man with a voice that is like tin-can falsetto, i pulled out my 3650 and switched the big TV off -- and people clapped their hands. Of course they never caught me.

However, some establishments already know this trick, so you will notice some black electric tapes to cover the ir of the TV. Even bus TV's have covered their ir ports - Especially in Tritran Buses (a common source of argument in bus TV is PBA vs TelenovelasCh2 vs TelenovelasCh7)

interesting, they tape over the ir sensor on some public tvs, eh? have had omniremote on my palm for the longest time, which you mostly need to program with an original remote control. tried a couple of other palm programs, one had presets for most tvs you need to choose.

i was amused that this particular zapper is selling well at $15 just to zap tvs on and off.

I also have omni remote. Just train it with a universal remote, that will do the trick for handling the most number of tvs. It can even command the remote controlled electric fan.

Come to think of it, why wont TV's and other home appliances ever evolve to having bluetooth instead of just plain irda, putting aside cost considerations?

I've had OmniRemote for the longest time too. Its biggest use for me was for changing the channels of the gym TVs from the treadmill. They never found out who was doing it, but the other joggers loved it. (I wonder who chooses the dang channels - I mean, a dozen TVs in a row, and five of them are on MTV, three on MYX, three on ANC and one on CNN - go figure).

Hmmm... how about turning off a whole video wall of some show in a mall or something? Would the tv zapper be able to do that? Because that would be soooo funny! Somebody pleeeeaaaasssseeee try that! :P:P:P
