    Default Treo 650 vs. P910i

i've been meaning to get a new smartphone for some time now and i think i'm ready to take the plunge again.

top three things i'm looking for are:

    1. SMS functionality (ease of use and message management with 3rd party software such as PhoneAgent, BluePhoneMenu, or others)[I know they don't work with those two, but maybe there are other apps that will?]

    2. Mac sync-ing compatibility

    3. True PDA functionality (a good library of usable applications)

hope you smartphone users out there can give me your opinions...

    Treo 650 hands down...

My mom has had the P800/P900 and lately the P910. For me, I don't feel that it's a true PDA. I've had the Treo 600 and it works great and synchs flawlessly.

I suggest waiting for that instead of getting the p910

i go for the p910:love:. i currently use a p900 and am so dying to upgrade it. one thing i havent tried is to sync my p9 with my powerbook. i dont think that the software included is MAC compatible. i have been looking for one. i did transfer some numbers from my address book to my phone and it works well (i transferred it via bluetooth).

i have to admit though that maverick has a point. it is not really doesnt give you a pda feel. although, my auntie has the old treo and is not happy with it at all. she has been trying to get rid of it for awhile now. even if she can use the treo as a pda, she still depends on her sony clie.

hope that this helps you good luck!

    Treo 650 for me!

    1. Excellent screen.
    2. Better keyboard than the P9.
    3. Comparable camera to P9.
    4. Good battery life.
    5. No need to use the stylus as much as the P9.
    6. Almost comparable speakerphone

I think that it really depends on how you use your phone. If you are a qwerty keyboard texter, then probably the treo may be a better option. However, in terms of your criteria i.e. sms message management, I think that the P910 is a very good machine. Personally, I use the t9 method of texting with the numeric keypad and simply love my p900. The phone's ability to place into memory a lot of words in whatever language i.e. taglish, english, tagalog, etc, that I may use has been excellent. While I am aware that there were problems with bluetooth mac-syncing with the older models such as p8 and p9, from the latest I've read, these have been resolved with the p910. I use my p9 and sync effortlessly with my office mail applicaiton which is lotus notes. Works like a charm.

In addition, the access to as much as 1gb of memory through memory stick duo pro is available whereas in the p9, it is limited to 128mb. More and more, what you will find out is that many applications which were for palm os have been adapted into symbian os and I believe that there is a very good array of pda software for the p910. I use worldmate for world time and as a converter and for exchange rates. I use mobipocket reader for ebooks and in addition, the new p910 has a good pdf reader for ebooks in pdf format. The screen of the p910 is 256k colors...Treo can't beat that. My p9 already has 65k colors. A good site for software is www.my-symbian.com.

I use my phone for video not just taking video but watching video on a landscape screen on mp4 format and for me, using my headphones, it is excellent. (especially good when the boss, my wife, wants the lights out and you still want to watch a movie or something). I just watch a movie or tv show off my p9. it is fairly simple to convert all kinds of video into mp4 files and lots of sites to download from.

I used to use a sony clie using palm os. I know there are lots of changes and improvements but overall, I think that in terms of a library of software that you mentioned you wanted, symbian applications have caught up to a great extent. you can view and edit ms office files just like in the case of the treo.

Overall, it's a close call but my vote, p910.

i'm currently using a P900 and as normal thinking dictates me when the P910i arrives, i checked it out only to get disappointed.i found nothing remarkable except for the office-doc editing features and an external querty keypads on the flip cover (which has ergonomic design problems i think).

P900 has sync problems on address book. better check this issue with the new model.
and since SE positioned the P900 it as phone-pda and not as pda-phone; expect its sibling merely to fuction like a normal phone too.

it depends on your inclination. if you're a long time palm os user, go for treo 650. but if the first time you're going to use a pda, go for treo 650.

Although the new iPAQs are really nice (I used to be a 3870 owner) the problem with the h6315 is that it will be the least compatible with a Macintosh, compared to a P910 or a Treo.
