    Default T610/T630 Tips and Tricks

I'm reposting this from our former forum. I edited a bit though. Since many PhilMUG members use SE phones, I sure these would come in handy.

    ---------------------

Some of these tips are applicable to the T68 too. I'm sure some (or all) are documented in the user manual, but who has the time or patience to go through that?

Here are some that I know of:

    •Clock Light
With the phone in standby mode (when it looks like it's off even if it's not), pressing the + or - button in the side of the unit will switch on the light in order for you to see the time. The light will stay on for about 10 secs only.

•Contact Edit Clipboard (works in T68 too)
Yes, there is a clipboard function in the T610. When editing a Phone Book entry, you can cut, or copy, then paste a highlighted number from one category to another (this comes in especially handy when shifting from a Nokia to an SE and you want to move those entries from 'Home' to 'Mobile' ).
This can be done by pressing the following buttons simultaneously (like ctrl+clicking in a computer):
    Cut: * + 1
    Copy: * + 2
    Paste: * + 3

•Camera Shortcuts (SW ver. R1L or higher)
When in the camera function, the following keys will perform these function:
+ or - will brighten or darken the image before you capture it
1 toggles large or small image size
2 toggles night shot on or off
3 toggles the effects (color, B&W, sepia, negative)
4 toggles self-timer on or off

    •T9 Input Shortcuts
    - Under Settings/Language/Input, select English and 123... only. When composing a message, holding the # key automatically toggles between alpha and numeric input mode

    - holding the * key toggles T9 and multitap input mode

    - pressing the * key repeatedly scrolls through ALL CAPS, Sentence cap and lowercase input modes

    - pressing 1 three times brings out a smiley face and the rest of the emoticons in the candidate list

    •Silent mode
In standby mode, press and hold C to get in and out of silent mode

    •Silent Ring
Pressing the C button when the phone rings will silence the ring and will kill the vibrate as well, without rejecting the call.

    •Instant Screensaver
In standby mode, press and hold the # key. Your screen saver will run immediately.

    •Calculator Memory + or recall
In the calculator, pressing the + button (located in the left side of the phone) places the figure in memory. Pressing the - button recalls it. To clear the memory, select More/Clear Memory

    •Silent Camera clicks
If the phone is in silent mode, the camera won't make sound when snapping pics

does anyone encounter problems updating their phone's phonebook (assuming you use a SE t630) with phone agent?

recently i've been entering contacts in phoneagent and want to update my phone's address book. the problem is that it doesn't update my entire phonebook! out of 300 contacts, maybe it will reach 100 and phoneagent will freeze.

anybody encounter anything like this? need help! tips, advise, suggestions welcome!

    hi extemyks,

sorry to hear you have the same problem although it makes me feel better that i'm not the only one who's encountered this...

i've sent an email to macmedia and they are also trying to figure out what's wrong because all my settings are correct.

when they send me feedback, i'll also keep you posted!

in the meantime, how did you update your phonebook on your phone? did you just have to do it manually?

Phone agent recognizes the 250 maximum limit of T610/T630. I could be freezing up coz your fone has reached the max numbers that can be stored.
You may want to split your fonebook, 250 numbers go to the fone and another 250 goes to the SIM card. If you have the globe opti-SIMs you can have as much as 750 numbers in your SIM (250 X 3).

In my case, I have 411 entries stored in my T610's phonebook memory, all of w/c PhoneAgent recognize. It used to be the allowable 510 entries. Haven't encountered any probs at all, even when it was maxed out.

    Hi Boyet.

The opti-SIM is not recognized by PhoneAgent. It's an extended phonebook that can be accessed by a phone's menu. I tried using it and PhoneAgent doesn't even know it's there.

FYI, my PhoneAgent reads all 500+ contacts from my phone. It also reads my SIM, in which I have only one entry: The Wife. I use the SIM entry for quick dial.

So here's another tip: the first 9 entries in the SIM can easily be called (Quick Dial). Simply dial the single digit (1 to 9). In my case, 1+dial calls the boss (my wife).

    Hi guys,

I emailed macmedia and they replied and said that there was a slight incompatibility that they found with my version of PhoneAgent and my t630.

The good news is they fixed it with an updated version of PhoneAgent! So for anyone who may encounter the same problem as I did, just download the updated version which you can get here:

    http://www.macmedia.sk/phoneagent.sit

Elbert, thanks also for the tip on the use of the SIM phonebook!
