    Default Suggest a printer please?

    Hi guys,

A friend of mine asked me to look for a printer for her. She needs it to be

•Easy to use (not too many buttons on the printer itself)
•Must be able to fax, copy and print
    •Able to print photos well
•Must be compatible with Airport Express / AEBS.
•Ink (both photo and normal) must be easy to find locally
    •Budget is around P20-30k

Not sure if this means much, but she prefers Canon and HP, as her friend told her something about print head clogging with Epson printers.

    Thanks!

I've been using HP printers for many years and always been satisfied with them. HP is pretty fast with uploading new Mac drivers, compared to other makers. Printing photos has more to do with using (expensive) paper designed for photos; I would think any of the latest printers should do a good job.

I can't recommend a specific model because I've been using a 970cxi for quite a while and it's still chugging away. I know the driver for this model is compatible with network devices (just make sure all of the Macs/PCs sharing the printer all have the latest drivers installed).

I have an old Airport with no USB port, so I've been using DAVE from Thursby... works as advertised... printer is shared via a host Mac ... file-sharing works in both directions no problems ... I can get onto the corporate Win 2000 network and access network drives at work... this software came out long before these features were built into the OS or the hardware.

oh, my friend just called up and said she wanted an all in one printer (fax, copy, print). Added that to the list above.

I recently purchased an HP 2610 "all in one printer"

After trying to set it up, I found out that it is NOT compatible with Tiger and I can only use the printer to print and not to fax and scan.

If you read the specs in hp.com and outside the box, it says that it is compatible with Mac OS.

When I went to the support pages to find out what I was doing wrong, I came across this link:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00366083&lang=en&cc =ph

Can anyone recommend a brand and model that is compatible with Tiger? I am willing to spend around P15T-P20T.

    The following are my options:

    Canon MPC-730
    Epson RX510
    Epson RX630

Does anyone have ACTUAL experience with any of these 3 models?

    Thanks.

    Thanks. Will consider the Canon.

Nobody has any experience with the Epson RX510 or RX630?

I think compatibility with airport express is just for printing, right? So you still need to attach your mac to it if you need to scan.
