Default Sony Ericsson K700i Wish List

    Attention all SE K700i users:

I need your K700i wish list, which I will be forwarding the the proper channels in Sony Ericsson.

Let me get the ball rolling:
    • phone book search function
    • dynamic memory allocation for phone book and SMS
    • return of the 'cut and paste' shortcut in the phone book edit
    • headset sounds (for SMS and incoming call rings)
    • return the old lock and unlock sequence (<menu + *> instead of the other way around)
    • T9 fixed-order of candidates list (instead of an automatic change of order depending on frequency of word candidates used)

    What else?

Top of mind here are a few:

    • Consistent interface across all functions
I like the new tabs used in the settings menu and the side-scrolling functions for looking up multiple phone numbers on the contact list. However, would like to also see it applied in viewing and editing the profiles. Imagine choosing your ringtones with audible playback while using the left or right keys.

    • Break the 10 note limit
Sending notes via bluetooth is so much fun, just want to have more cause I usually create other notes for myself.

    • Longer entry fields in Code Memo
This is a great application. However, a credit card number usually contains 16 numbers. So it would be great for SE to support around 20 characters.

    • Frames
Neoprint, hahaha. Just as we can download themes, how about frames too?

    • MP3 Message Alert Tones

I may be asking too much, but here goes:

    • Applications
Birthdays that can be added to contacts and schedules. A converter program like the one available for the Palm. A world time where you select the city and displays its current time based on your local time. HandyShopper like application for those grocery lists, aisle no., etc.

OT: I wish Smart would hurry up and get around to releasing the k700i I applied for. It's been almost a month.

    On Topic:

I agree with Elbert's list, in particular, the dynamic memory allocation for the phonebook. As it is, I have to cross-check numbers not on my phone with the addressbook in my T2.

As for T9 fixed-order candidates list, hmm, I think prioritizing frequently used words is cool. Maybe, an option then to choose between fixed order and prioritized order.

A short list for now (Will add more when I think of them later):

    - the ability to put all-day events into the Calendar. This is what's stopping me from syncing iCal with my phone. When I work on my ad projects, I usually schedule their deadlines using an all-day event at the top of iCal's Day View but these don't come out on the k700i, they're just ignored.

    - Of course this is not something a firmware upgrade can solve, but ditch the stupid rubber cover at the bottom or give us a tab to facilitate easier opening. My rubber cover looks like a tiny dog has been chewing on it from the number of times I've had to pry it open with my fingernail.

    - I'm surprised no one's mentioned battery life, but then again I'm sure they're already working on that.

    - Bring back chat mode. I actually used it quite a bit on my T610.

while this is more a sony ericsson and not just a K700 issue, ive always wondered why they cannot allow for 2 number s of the same type under one name i.e. two mobile numbers or two home numbers. this is one reason i never ventured into buying a sony ericsson. is it just me who knows people with multiple numbers to be filed under one category and bugged by this?

there's no way to save birthdays in the calendar of the K700i. Also, AFAIK, you can't make events repeating, like weekly meetings, etc

    - SMS Composition: Insert contact's number/detail (like Nokia's)
    - Phonebook: Multiple "same-type" numbers (e.g. 2 mobile numbers per contact)
    - SMS Composition: less clicks! (Compose-Finish-Contacts-Send, instead of Compose-Choose Type-Finish-Contacts-Find Contact-Choose Number-Send)
    - Battery, Battery, Battery
    - SMS Alert Tone: Customizeable, please!

My gripe is really with the OS it uses (similar to the T610/T630). I also find that it isn't as "multitasking" as I want it to be.

    Hi Vic!

I have not extensively used iCal as well as the Calendar function of my K700 so I don't know if this really works but I noticed that when you select the K700 icon in iSync's list of devices, you will see a button labeled "Option" at the bottom. Try to click on that button and check the "Sync all-day events" option in the dialog box that will subsequently appear.

    Again, I don't know if this works but I guess it's worth a try:P

Anyway, on to the topic. I would like to see the following features in the next firmware upgrade:
    • the Reply & Delete feature when composing a response (this is a feature I've grown fond of in my T630; and it's one of those features that can make things a lot simpler)
    • the option to turn off the automatic saving of sent items
    • the ability to let users personalize the message alert tone
    • the search function in the phonebook
    • increased battery life:roll:

    In addition:
    • Return the font sizes option (small medium large), at least for reading/composing SMS

    • Return the ALL CAPS, Title Caps or lowercase toggling (in one SW version of the T68i, you could toggle through these simply by repeatedly pressing the "*" key when a word was selected)

    • Return the "include this message" option when replying to an SMS

EDIT: The first option is for, ahem, 'older' people like me, who are finding it more and more difficult to read small text as time progresses.
