Monitor Compatibility
Hi all! Just a quick question: Are monitors designated "PC only" not compatible with Macs? Reason I ask is because someone might give me a used NEC 19" flat screen crt monitor, and it is "PC only" daw. Is this true? I'm thinking I can just plug in my Powerbook and be able to use it, but I need to be sure. Sayang kasi!

It'll work with your Mac. No such thing as a "PC only" monitor now. As long as it's using DVI or VGA input, you're okay. :-)

i've destroyed 3 monitors over the span of 4 years (gaming rage issues), all of them were "PC only". Tried 2 monitors on my PB, no problems whatsoever.

Hi Henjie,
A little out of topic, but do you know of any VGA to ADC converter that'll connect a 12"PB without mini-DVI to an Apple Display Monitor?

There are a couple of solutions out there, but they're really costly ($300!): Gefen's "the VGA to ADC conversion box" and Dr. Bott's VGAtor. For an extra $100, you can probably buy an okay 17" LCD monitor (or a 19" Viewsonic flat-screen CRT display) from Mongkok or Sham Shui Po. :-)
