I'm not the original poster but I, for one, have also been looking for a USB IrDA solution to connect my Graphite iBook with my Nokia 7250 (and before, with my Nokia 6210).
I was thinking along the lines of enabling my iBook to connect to the internet in case of an emergency by using the 7250 as a GPRS modem.
Now for doing things like phone management, finding the software is another issue.
If there's a Mac programmer out there who somehow managed to write a Mac OS X driver for an MA-620 USB IrDA, I wonder if iSync would recognize my 7250.

I don't have any answers for your questions, but I have a couple of my own: what are you going to use IrDA for, and with what? Just curious.
for sending files to my phone and syncing my palm to the mac... my brother found one for about Php700 from a factory in shanghai...
ive noticed through system profiler that os x has an extension called "AppleUSBIRDA" or something like that... whats this for? theres nothing in the knowledge database...
I'm with dude_funk. Most people (like me) also use Nokia phones that aren't fully compatible with bluetooth on Macs that the only alternative is via IR. I know the technology is slow, but hey, we're still happy with our Nokias
I use a Palm MS Office-compatible suite that, unfortunately, can send files only via IR. It's also a lot faster than HotSyncing if I have to exchange only a couple of files.
I bought an IR dongle some months ago but sold it after a few days because I couldn't find a way to makle it work with my PowerBook.
To the TiBook users: I believe the TiBook has an IR port. Are there any special configuration settings to activate the IR port?
