Default Laptop Tripods - Ever used one?

Has anyone ever considered using Laptop stands? I've gotten interested in this interesting accessory since in my work on the (corn) fields, there isnt any dry flat surface around. Even in farmer gatherings, we sometimes hold them outdoors or under a tent.

What do you think guys? Here are some links

    Laptop Stand 1

    Laptop Stand 2

And would you trust your ibooks and pbooks to these accessory? I think this has more use for photogs, videogs, and even some audiophiles (especially those that loves to record ambiend sounds). Kung pwede din ito sa mga projectors, I'd gladly take one.

The only fear I have is that people can be really clumsy. One trip on this in a crowded function and your treasured gears would come crashing down.

Your fear is also my fear. Accidents do happen, I trust those steady four legged tables.

Them laptop stands look too flimsy, really. But since you mentioned that you work outdoors, maybe a Laptop Hood would be of more use to you.

My thoughts exactly. And for that reason, I don't think I'll ever use one of those.

In the field kasi, you wont have much opportunity to work on your lap (sitting down) when gathering data, and taking notes from a group of farmers. But your reaction did make me think twice about ever considering the product. Patience is a virtue - a very money-saving virtue. I'll just post the data once it's safe for me and my gadget.

There was a time when my (now-stolen) DSC F707 fell to the ground even while on a tripod. It happened in Tagaytay Highlands and the wind there is strong at a certain time of the day. I mean, the camera a lesser wind resistance (another outdoor factor) compared to an open or closed lid laptop.

    Thanks guys.
