k700i upgrade assistance
Need advice/solutions on upgrading my k700i firmware via the SE website. Just bought a pre-owned one with R2A and no warranty. Figured if i could upgrade at home, it would save me a trip (and PhP500+) to Smartnet.
Here's the problem: all i get is a "Please Wait.." notice forever on the website after I've gone through the entire wizard's steps -- no pop-ups or loading going on. Been trying to diagnose what's missing, as well as checking the k7 posts in Philmug to no avail.
I have the DSS cradle (from a P900) + driver, full-charge k700i, Win XP PC (sorry, no Mac alternatives yet) w/ SP1. Read somewhere that it could be the firewall, but i don't have one.
Help!

BUY A MAC! :P (JOKE)... I think it's better to go to Smartnet and have them do the software upgrade. I think upgrading software of mobile phones is as deadly as upgrading the bios of a PC... If ur familiar with bios upgrade, you should not consider doing the software upgrade of your phone.

Why don't you go to www.esato.com instead?
I've successfully upgraded my K700 online using a DSS-20

make sure your J2ME version installed is the one of Sun Microsystems. Check your advanced properties of IE and disable Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine. Reboot, then go to the SE K700 update site and download again.
Microsoft's java implementation is not standard and does not follow what is needed for the K700 online update... Worked for several workstations i've configured already.
