    Default digital voice recorder

hi. i need a digital voice recorder. i've looked around for it but all i found where digital voice memo note takers that can record only about thirty one-minute voice notes to oneself. i need something that can record voices continuously for up to two to three hours, and then allow me to trasnfer that aiff file to my laptop so i can burn it.

i hope you know what i'm talking about. do you have this? have you seen something lik this? does it even exist?

    thanks for all your help.

i have an olympus digital voice recorder that's small and runs for hours on two AAA batteries and is great for interviews. alas, it's not directly compatible with macs (which means, i have to use a software program like audio hijack to download the interview in .mp3 format, but on a 1:1 pace--no drag and drop; it's a pain to download a file to reuse the memory). there is a slightly more expensive olympus DVR that's mac-compatible. use google to look around ("digital voice recorder mac&quot.

i'm thinking of selling off what i have to get one of those wannabe-ipods that also double as DVRs, presuming they'll appear on the desktop as flash memory and i can just drag and drop files.

I use the Belkin voice recorder with my 3G iPod. Very easy to set up, but you have to practice with it though. Find out what is the optimum distance and modulate your voice depending on the distance. Not as strong as I would like if you put it in the centre of a table for a group discussion but I guess you cannot have it all. Just bring up your volume and you can understand just about everything.

    Cheers,

Oh i just remembered --- the Pentax Optio S40 digital camera i bought can record about 4 hours just audio straight on a 256 mb SD memory card. I talked about the camera at the bottom of this page.

Tested recording in large halls, in my room with a TV at different volumes, etc. It does fine for an extra feature, and the camera is small enough so it is always in my bag. It has a little speaker built in, but no provision for earphone.
