Default Anyone have the BMW iPod accessory?

    Hey guys,

I just came from PGA and the guys I spoke to regarding the iPod BMW accessory have never heard of it. I gave them the URL www.ipodyourbmw.com and they were floored since they realized the connectivity available... My question is: have any of you been able to get this for your car? If so, where, how much and who installed it?

I tried PGA so far, since I tried to get it as a freebie... I guess I'm stuck with a free keychain, unless anyone can help

*paging mikael - any info on this would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks guys!

If you got a 2004 Alpine HeadUnit your in luck, look at Alpine's website for the KCA-420i adaptor.

Sent inquiry to the US, still waiting for a response. Apple dealers here do not have them.

I already have mine installed in my car, and one other MUGGer has his Alpine-iPod interface running as well. In fact, I got mine thru that MUGGer.

Note however that this only works with Alpine head units. If you want to maintain the stock appearance of your Bimmer dash, this is not the solution for you.

    Stay tuned, reviews coming shortly.

The KCA-420i will work with any AI-Net compatible head unit, but only the recent models will support the full data display and control. My head unit (CDA-9811) is not on the official list of supported models according to Alpine, but works perfectly well both sound-wise and interface-wise.

If your 9811 is not on the official list, then my guess is right that my 9807 will work the same as yours. Hmmm... I should ask that MUGrrrr to get me one also.... :P but it's too late.

What kind of display do we get Vic?

    Thanks for your replies guys,

Since i'm planning to keep my bimmer's stock head unit, I guess it's the BMW iPod connector for me... The icelink looks nice, but will still have to check if it will work with my system (business).

Oh well, research says I can get it for $149 in the US (have no idea where yet). A little bit more, and it's an icelink... whichever way, all I want is to be able to use the wheel to control my ipod
