    Default White Earphones Uncool?

"Godin is a closet iPod user, one of a small cadre of iPod lovers loath to be identified as an iPod lover.

For closet users like Godin, it's the way the earbuds scream, "Woo hoo, look at me, I've got an iPod!"

"I'm not looking forward to being identified on the street," Godin said. "I don't know why. I don't like it." (Curiously, Godin said he's "proud" of his laptop's Apple logo when he gives presentations to thousands of people, but dislikes the idea of getting the iPod nod on the subway).

To others, using non-white headphones is a reaction to the growing hordes of iPod fans clogging the sidewalks and subways. Others don't like wearing corporate logos, even earbuds."

I wear B&O's w/ my iPod. I guess I've been a closet iPod user all along.

before i use to do that ... walk the streets and malls with my white earbuds just hanging out there... it was still "safe" back then... but now its just a matter of time when thieves can identify somebody who has an ipod with him heck or any music player with that... so i just use mine when im on the road... its not safe anymore

Are you serious? Have there been reports of thieves spotting white earphones? Oh my! You're right about the sound of the earphones though. It could be better. Any suggestions on replacement earphones?

I did see this bloke once in G4 wearing his white earphones. It does give the iPod away. It's arrogant too. Hehe.

nah... thieves have better targets than a person's MP3 player. Phones are a better target for example.

I actually bought the Apple In-Ear earphones to replace the original one I lost. I wear them everywhere I feel the need for my music. It's actually ridiculous to be too paranoid about one's devices.

PS. Just don't wear them around areas where you'll be prone to attack.
