What is on the "OTHER" folder of itunes/iphone?

I got 1.5gb on the other folder. What are in the "other" folder? Is it safe to erase it to liberate 1.5gb of my memory? TIA

Prolly your iTunes database has been corrupted and your phone created a new music/picture library, try deleting all the content of this folder, sync again and check.

Use SSH, iphonebrowser, iBrickr etc (search for steps on how to access your iPhone filesystem) so you'll be able to delete all the content of the iTunes_Control folder, saved on path below
for fw 112 and below
/var/root/Media/iTunes_Control/

for fw 113 and newer
/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/
