What the?! Now I can\'t decide on what iPod to get!!!
Apple is making it soooo hard to decide on what iPod to invest in!
What------------Price---Increase------Storage Increase------Feature added
Shuffle 512----$ 99
Shuffle 1Gb----$150---50%----------100%
Mini 4Gb--------$199---33%----------400%------------------Display
Mini 6Gb--------$250---25%----------50%
BW 20Gb-------$300---20%----------333%
Photo 30Gb----$350---17%-----------50%-------------------Colored Display
Photo 40Gb----$380---33%-----------8.5%
Photo 60Gb----$450---50%-----------18%
I hate it when the price difference is relatively very small !!!!!

Wonder if the local Apple resellers will also adjust prices downward for the previous models...

Actually it's quite easy....
Shuffle - Better choice for active lifestyle coz it's the most durable (except for water).
Mini - If you're music collection doesn't span more than 3 decades (IMO).
iPod - You litterally don't want to leave anything behind.
iPod Photo - If you wanna bore us to death with your vacation photos at EBs. He he.

hmm...
The new iPod photo models no longer include iPod photo Docks, iPod photo AV cables, or cases, and more surprisingly, Apple has also apparently dropped both FireWire cables and FireWire Power Adapters from the iPod photo boxes. Each iPod photo now includes only a single USB 2.0 cable and a USB Power Adapter, for wall power charging. Each of the other items is available separately.

" Each iPod photo now includes only a single USB 2.0 cable and a USB Power Adapter, for wall power charging"....can this power adapter be used to charge the Shuffle too? If I had the money, then one iPod 60gb and one 1gb Shuffle....

To sidetrack a bit...
Will Somebody care to enlighten me...
Will you still be able to boot off the iPod (in case your HD is kaput) if you only have the USB cable (no FW cable)?
I know some people put the recovery CD in their iPods for this purpose, but it's unclear to me if that method (booting off the iPod) works only with a Firewire cable.

if I may share; coz we have recent discussion regarding the right iPod to buy.
uhm, IMHO. I now understand how Apple created the iPods (wether intentionally or unexpectedly) - to suit the individualty of consumer or probable user. I am not in to iPods really. But now that they'd come up with a Shuffle, I decided to get myself one for Gym.
Why Shuffle?
1. It's figuratively small (in size and capacity).
2. It's not cheap either, consider how much are you paying per GB capacity versus the regular iPods.
3. I use my Powerbook all the time. I bring it almost everytime. I would rather use it for playing my music while browsing Philmug or doing PSD work.
4. It has been my habit to organize a weeklong playlist - max of 200 songs. 1GB Shuffle is perfect then.
5. Of course, since I go to the gym, I'd like to focus on the work out and not on my iPod.
It really depends on your usage. As my advice to a possible iPod owner, why don't you try our iPods, put it on and see where it takes you."

Is there a 40gb still available? I can't seem to find any on the U.S. site? Can anyone list what the previous prices were? (if possible a price comparison, sorry am not familiar with the old dollar prices, just the UK prices)
And I guess it's cheaper because it doesn't include stuff like a Dock and FW. But I can't imagine owning an iPod and syncing it using USB 2.0.
