Using iPod Shuffle on both Mac and Windows

Hi, someone I know just bought an iPod shuffle. She has an iBook, which is what she usually connects her shuffle to. Hence, the shuffle is formatted as an HFS Drive. The thing is, she also wants to use the shuffle as a USB Flash Drive on any windows PC, without installing any 3rd party software such as MacDrive, etc. Is there any way that I can format the shuffle (or any iPod for that matter) as a Windows drive yet still be able to sync it with the Mac Version of iTunes?

i think you can try reformatting the ipod in the windows xp with the ipod software. it should be compatible with mac and windows by then.

In order to use the shuffle fully, iPod Updater (ver. 2005-1-11) is needed. iPod Updater restore will format the shuffle in Macintosh PC Exchange (MS-DOS) by default.
