US Iphone vs. Unlocked Ghills Iphone
hi guys! i'm choosing between buying an unlocked iphone from ghills and having my sister bring me 1 from the states. i have a few questions and maybe u guys can help me decide.
1) if i buy from straight from the US, how do i go about activating it? what do i have to do first before i go to the jailbreak site? or is that the 1st thing i do?
2) anyone here bought theirs from ghills? do you simply put in your sim card after buying?
3) any advantages/disadvantages if i buy from the u.s.? i'm leaning towards it because its a little bit cheaper
TIA

I bought mine in GH, activated, open line with firmware 1.0.2, just insert your SIM then you're ready to go. Then I got the services of a fellow philmug member, Yves, to upgrade it to 1.1.1, activate then sim unlocked. Just send him an SMS at 09178668725. He renders a very good service and I would strongly recommend him to anyone. He provides his services at rockwell, starbucks.
Only advantage of getting it in the US is the cheaper price. Any which way, you won't regret geting an iPhone.

Sir yagit, I strongly suggest that you buy straight from an Apple Store in the US if you are able to. Aside from being much, much more cost effective, the move grants you the privilege of knowing exactly how your iPhone will be unlocked. :-)

if you decide to get from the states, get a couple more so you can sell to us... hahaha
if you have access to get from the states get from there, its cheaper. unlocking here is no biggie anymore its really very easy na..
btw its not alittle bit cheaper , its alot cheaper in the states my friend.

If you buy from the States, be aware that there is an impending new firmware from Apple which is not yet covered by existing unlock methods...

As of today (Mon. 11/12/07) Apple hasn't even officially posted the 1.1.2 iPhone update yet on their software updates. It's just iTunes 7.5 that's currently available - but it's better to stick with the previous version to be safe. And all the Apple stores still carry the 1.1.1 iPhone in-stock.... Obviously things change as days go by so be aware and just keep on checking the various iPhone sites for recent news.

Slightly OT but would anyone here know if there are stores in Greenhills which sell iPhones still sealed in their boxes? Thanks.
