Unlocked iPhone behaving in a strange manner
Hello Friends,
This is Lucky (well surely not lucky with iphone) and I am from India. I bought a 16 GB unlocked iphone about 2 weeks ago. It worked good for 3-4 days but after that it started behaving strangely. It used to get hang almost at any point. It used to freeze at any of the following event:
- Listening Songs
- Watching Photos
- Adjusting Alarm Clock
- Slide to Unlock
- Browsing Contacts
- Almost anywhere
Everytime it froze, I used to hard boot it (by pressing both the home and sleep button at the same time). It continued to behave like this. Further, I removed all of the songs and photos from it to see if that solves the problem. But it didnt help.
Today, everything is gone. I am not able to get the home screen. When I am seitching it ON, its displaying the i-tunes icon and the connectivity cord icon. I am not sure what to do.
I request you to please guide me how can I use my phone without any problem? I want to use all of its features. Thanks a lot in advance. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Re: Unlocked I-phone behaving in a strange manner
plug it in via iTunes and hit restore. After the successful restore you can either use iPlus, Ziphone or the latest which is PAWN.
also try to visit www.applei.ph for unlocking tutorial, TIPS and Tricks etc.. posted by fellow iPhone user. HTH

Re: Unlocked I-phone behaving in a strange manner
Connect it to your computer, restore it. go to www.apple.com/support on how-tos and other stuff.
After that, download ziphone at www.ziphone.org
When your iPhone is restored, turn if off
Press the home button while connecting your iPhone
You will see the connect to iTunes cable cord sign and wait for itunes
When iTunes opens up, (Quit it) iTunes will say your iPhone is in recovery mode. run ziphone and click the (one click unlock, jailbreak and activate button) after that wait for ziphone to do it's job and then you're back! restore from the previous backup iTunes made and you have your old contacts and settings at least. (if you have mac, which is easier

Re: Unlocked iPhone behaving in a strange manner
Hii Folks,
I tried the options you told me. I first connected my phone to i-tunes and downloaded the software. I first tried to restore it using i-tunes but it gave me this error. Well it gave two errors, first (-55) (i got this error only first time) and then (1611). I am receiving the 161 error everytime i am tryig to restore.
The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-55).

I have placed a snapshot of same at this link :

I also tried ziphone software as suggested by rdy0329. It ran and the software displayed that your phone is unlocked. But I am still not able to use my phone. Its still showing me the same itune and connecting cord icon.
Please help me

Re: Unlocked iPhone behaving in a strange manner
Too bad you have to use Ziphone to jailbreak, activate and unlock because it's known to really mess up a lot of things as mentioned from the other IPhone forums. WEll Try doing it this way, Do you know if your can go to DFU mode then do a restore on the IPhone. But first may I ask what version of the Iphone do you have from Out of the Box state? That info would be use for now so we could proceed on unravelling what has been done.
Edit: I see in you signature you're a 16 GB FW version 1.1.4 Iphone. Kindly confirm?

Re: Unlocked iPhone behaving in a strange manner
Dear Vigilantes,
The info is correct. I am having 16 GB with 1.1.4 iphone. Should I use ziphone to go to the DFU mode? I am not sure how to do that. The only display on the i-phone is the itune icon and the connecting cord icon.
