Thoroughness of Google Map = Imminent Release of iPhone

Tried Google map early 2007 and did a search for Hong Kong and noticed that most streets were unlabeled. It was quite a different story last November, when I tried Google Maps on the iPhone last November where detailed street maps, directions, and location via cell triangulation could now be had with the iPhone. Could the detail level of Google Maps of a particular major city in a country be a good indicator of whether the iPhone will soon be released?

What does the community think?

It probably is just Google's continued effort to get detailed mapping in every country. I have the same experience in Malaysia's map and I don't think it is even in Apple's radar for the iPhone market yet. It's probably their continued growth in the Asia region that they are pushing more services and attract user base. Just my 2 cents.

it's not useable as a street map but for now major roads can be seen...

It just shows major roads and could not make routes yet, unlike Nokia Maps for the N or E series which can already do (although it doesn't have the fancy satellite view).
