T-Mobile releases G1 Google phone to rival the iPhone

Reviews here say that it's a good phone but lacks the coolness of the iPhone...
what do you think?

Re: T-Mobile Android G1
it doesnt look that good, but the software is way better than apple's. I sure do hope apple would allow more flexibility to developers.
on the other side, i think more people would like it because it has a physical qwerty

Re: T-Mobile Android G1
I saw the phone in US. Its not too bad, I think its a potential iphone killer...depending on the apps they get. The greatest advantage it has is the open sourced OS which will open many doors for software developers.
It's definitely got a better chance at eating up apple's share than all the other iphone-killer-wannabes that's been released this past few months imho. But most likely it'll eat up RIM and Nokia's market share instead :P

Re: T-Mobile Android G1
Tried it out at a T mobile shop weeks ago... design is not appealing, had trouble zooming in and out with the maps (used to pinching,), it was an okay device for me.

Re: T-Mobile Android G1
Interesting thing: Some of the earlier builds of Android interpret everything as a command-line operation (sez Engadget). If you type reboot, the unit running Android will actually reboot. Hehe.

Re: T-Mobile Android G1
problem is, its the only handset available for now. since the OS would be available on other devices as well, i think the experience would all be different.
so the term iphone killer would all be based on the device, not the OS.
