    Default Syncing iPod

I have my iPod synced to my PC and I'm planning to switch it to my iBook. Can this be done without erasing anything? I have tried doing it the other day but I deleted everything from my iPod when I attached it to the iBook - good thing I have a back-up of everything on windows...:sigh:

Keep in mind that the the iPod and iTunes is designed to work one way only--iTunes can transfer songs into the iPod, but not the other way around.

When you plug an ipod into a new computer for the first time, iTunes will ask if you want to automatically update the iPod. If you click yes, you'll loose everything in the iPod as iTunes takes precedent. If iTunes is empty, then your iPod will be empty as well since an empty iTunes will overwrite a loaded iPod.

You must use a manual setting if you want to be able to plug an iPod into another computer without erasing its contents (just say NO when it asks if you want to automatically update. Otherwise, if Automatic has been selected before, go into the preference settings and select Manually Update iPod).

If you want to copy songs FROM an iPod into iTunes, try iPod.iTunes. It's been discussed here.
