Default Something Gets Left Behind in Development

considering that the iPod has already gone thru several iterations, and branching product directions, you just cant help but ask this simple question -->

Why cant they improve/upgrade the headset that comes with the iPod?

What do you think of this?

I have been asking the same question over and over! I find that the headset that comes with the iPod after the wear and tear of everyday use, doesn't sound as good after a while.

Maybe the in-ear phones should come with the new iPods? Just a thought

Yes, but there is a quality issue this early with the Sony HD players:

Yeah...true! An isolated case probably or maybe not. Time will tell.

Goinf back to the topic...i even saw accessories for the ipod earphone foam in different color. Then it will eventually loosen up in a few days. So why not have the iPod in-ear be the default earphone?

they intentionally boxed in the crappy white earbuds so you'd have to buy the in-ear... which really isnt that great either.

btw: has anyone noticed that the mp3 playback from the newer se phones (p800 up) sounds so much much better than the ipod?

This is exactly why I still haven't gotten an iPod I'm not sure if it's way better than the iPod, but the playback of mp3s in my P900 is really good and crisp. So to accommodate more songs, I just upgraded my memory stick duo. The thing is, I have to be conscious of my battery usage coz it still is my cellphone, and I can't hook it up with speakers (although the speaker phone mode booms out the sound without the "tunog lata" effect). :P

i think the high quality headphones of the p8/p9/k7 series are also a factor... it just sounds so 'full' not too much bass or highs, the same song (encoded in aac) played back on a mini sounds flat to put it nicely. too bad the earphone jacks arent standard...
