Wired News
After a lifetime of eating tomato soup from the can, the taste of real tomato soup is a revelation -- a flavor sensation; an opera in the mouth.
The equivalent aural experience can be had by upgrading from standard earbuds or headphones to the E3c earphones from Shure.
While the iPod's earbuds are generally pretty good, they simply aren't in the same league as the E3c earphones, which pump out such clear and strong sound they make your eyes pop.

The E3c was designed specifically for consumers, especially users of the iPod. The body of the earphones is white to match the iPod, a Shure spokeswoman said.

I just bought a pair of shure e3c's to replace my sennheiser pxc250 noise cancelling headsets to use when I travel. I have nothing against the sennheisers and in fact i was extremely happy with them. However, in terms of form factor and when flying (which I do a lot), it is very difficult to fall into sleep with the sennheisers because they are over the ear headphones. so I decided to buy the shure e3c. I used both the sennheiser and shure on the same flight using the same song to do my own little product testing. I thinking that because of the in ear design of the shure, the shure noise isolating in ear headphones sound better than the noise cancellling sennheisers. In addition, the sennheiser requires a battery pack and it gets to be a bit bothersome when flying and trying to fall asleep to some relaxing music from your ipod as you don't exactly know where to place the battery pack. Having in ear buds does take some getting used to. both are excellent headsets but for the form factor and the portability and overall sound quality, I recommend the shure e3c.

when I first got them... the in ear design felt a bit awkward at first but you'll get over it quickly. i fly a lot too and they are simply a must!

i've been using the e3c's for about two weeks now and i have one word for them: heaven. they leave out enough noise for every note to come through crystal clear, but you can still hear enough to know if a car is blaring its horn at you (don't try it, though). i am blissfully happy with them. (yes, putting them on the correct way over the ears takes some getting used to, but it doesn't take long--just a few days.)
i got mine through the internet in the states (comp-u-plus), for $109 pls shipping to my sister in virginia=$124.
