pod Video problems
Question, when you sync your ipod video to your macs does the backlight of the ipod stay lit the whole time you are connected to your mac while flashing the "do not disconnect" icon?

Re: pod Video problems
yes. that's part of the last update to itunes/ipod. if you eject your ipod in itunes, the light will turn off but it will continue to charge.

Re: pod Video problems
thinking as i'm typing, but backlights on both my ipods do not stay on while "do not disconnect" is flashing (backlight is on only for a while when i connect thru usb, then 'goes away' instantly). likewise, both are charging while connected.

Re: pod Video problems
inadvertently posted in iPod 4th gen..
mine is a black ipod video 30gig (5th gen first release)
hmmm... this evening (well.. past midnight so morning..) i don't know what happened.
I was syncing my iPod with the latest videos - and then this error popped up.. "Ipod (name) could not be read or written to."
The last things I remember syncing on my iPod video were videos which were already on itunes, and would play from there, but I couldn't transfer them to the ipod because of the error. It was like my ipod was suddenly write protected, and don't know what caused it.
The videos were on my ipod, but only in name - they wouldn't play.
Don't know if this is related, but I also tried to sync an additional folder of photos, if that makes any difference. Photos didn't reach the ipod either.
(Incidentally, i clicked my ipod on the left hand sidebar of iTunes, and under "Settings" only chose to sync PHOTOS in an attempt to ISOLATE whether the problem was with syncing the photos... the videos... or something else... Well what happened was that when I chose to sync ONLY the photos... it ERASED all the songs and videos i had on the ipod... AND IT STILL WOULDN'T SYNC. So in that move, I lost all my songs and videos, and had no choice but to RESTORE. (All songs and videos are still on my Mac pa naman so nothing really "lost" *crossing fingers*. )
From there, well, i backed up the other non-music, non-photo, non-video data I still had on the ipod video on to my mac (other non-a,v,p, data on the ipod was untouched), and hit RESTORE.
So far so good (still syncing as of this writing)...
Just some questions:
1. What happened?
2. If I manually copy back the calendar, notes, contacts folders back into the ipod from the backup of my hard disk, will they work, or will I have to resync the usual way through iSync?
3. It used to be Windows formatted so I could use it as a portable hard disk for my pc at home and at the office, but now it's Mac formatted. Even if I enable disk use, PC's still won't be able to read the contents, since it's now MAC formatted, right?
(or have they found a way around this... any benefits to having it Mac-formatted? Seems to me Windows formatted is better because at least you can connect it to PC's...)
Oh well.
Will find out in a while...

Re: pod Video problems
ipod is ok na.
DiveSolana, if "Enable disk use" is checked, then i think the ipod will always be half lit (or at least mine does) - usually once you eject it, that also cuts off the charging.
However if "Enable disk use" is not checked, then if you plug it in your mac/pc, then it will charge, turn itself on, then turn itself completely off after a while. then you get that "charging" message with the big battery in front, no menu.
(or that's what happens to mine anyway hehehe)
