Perky problem with Installer.App
Been having problems with Installer.App lately. Been trying to reinstall it, not having much success.
I think I was doing everything right, buy maybe I'm missing a step somewhere. I'm on 1.1.2.
Maybe the experts out there can help:
First:
- I deleted Installer.App from my Applications folder via SFTP
- I made a backup the deleted Library\Installer via SFTP
Second
- I downloaded the latest version of Installer (v3.0b9)
- I copied Installer.App to Applications via SFTP
- I made sure that chmod = 755 via my SFTP program (read write execute)
Third
- I rebooted the iPhone by pressing the home wake button, let it turn off then on again.
- I launched Installer form the iPhone. It showed a blank screen then quit to home screen.
Installer ain't working!!
Fourth
- I went to Terminal and SSHed into the iPhone.
- typed \Applications\Installer.app\Installer
- returned the following error message - zsh: permission denied: /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
This is where I'm stuck. I tried chmodding the Library\Installer files to 755, still not working. Even tried putting new blank versions of the files in Library\Installer.
I suspect there's another file I need to set permissions to.
Of course I could just restore the iPhone. DFU, go back to 1.1.1, jailbreak, oktoprep, update to 1.1.2, independence, install appsupport files.... kaya lang haba!!! And I'll lose all my SMS and photos.
Any help?
Pahabol: Kainis, the title should be PESKY problem with Installer.APP. :-P

Re: Perky problem with Installer.App
I tried installing 3.0b8, same problem.
Looking for an older version that works with 1.1.2. Will try that.
Any other ideas?

Oh great, finally figured it out!!!!!!!
I was chmodding only the Installer.app file. I went inside and chmod the actual Installer file inside Installer.App.
NOW IT WORKS!! Hay nako! Grabe, learned so much about applications today.

To be honest, I actually don't know. Try doing update. If that doesn't work then go through the steps I did to reinstall. Enjoy!

Sir alvinrayyu, there's no need to uninstall the old version of the Installer app and thereafter install version 3.0b9. A simple update will suffice. After all, all the update does is increase the Installer app's callup for refreshing Sources from 30 minutes to 24 hours. This was done to ease the bandwidth burden on repositories. No other enhancements were made.
