Yes, I'm curious as to how it happened? On the positive side, at least the iphone 3g is coming out soon.

That happened to my first 8g iphone. It did not look as bad as yours though, i only had a couple of diagonal crack lines.

it basically landed on the top left corner from a 2 feet drop. It still works, my wife is currently using it.

I wonder if Apple has come up with a solution to this problem and if they incorporated in the new 3g iphone?

The nerve! That's a big ouch to your pocket. Better have it replaced than repaired or else you'll always remember what happened to your ever precious iPhone

How did it break? i got careless. :-)

Prior to this incident, I've dropped my iPhone too many times to count, once even bouncing twice!

This one was actually a relatively innocuous fall. I was having dinner in Portico with some friends last night, the iPhone was on my chair and accidentally nudged it off.

The iPhone Glass Screen hit the concrete ground FLAT. No side bevel to absorb the impact. Imagine you hold your iPhone with the glass facing flat down and dropping it. THAT'S how it happened. The ground was pure flat concrete with absolutely no cushioning or even tiles.

So now, i know exactly how to crack an iPhone.

As i said though, the amazing this is that it still works! I was considering selling it and get the 3G, but the 3G isn't worth an upgrade for me at this time. Buti na lang i found someone who knows how to fix this.

With luck, i'll post some good news soon in this thread.
